Not Just Listening

Today Milton past a milestone. He really surprised me in a really positive way. I sat on the WC and I saw our little sunshine come crawling. That's nothing new but this time he said "tissa" when he crawled over the threshold. "Tissa" is babylanguage for "kissa" which is "pee" in english. I smiled and thought he said it because he was in the bathroom or because I was on the WC but he crawled past me to his potty touched it and said "tissa" again. Of course I took off his pants and diaper and sat him down on the potty. He pooped and peed almost right away. I thought that was AWESOME :) He has been going on the potty for about 10 days now, a few days before he turned 1, but never told us when he wanted. We've just put him there after his meals. This was the first time he acctually told us he wanted to go. Later mom said he did the same thing when I was away but that time he looked at Elina and pointed at the potty. Later this evening, still the same day, after I came home with godfather after playing with our radiocontrolled cars, we sat in the sofa and had a beer. Milton crawled to the door opening to our livingroom and pointed at the bathroom and said "tissa". Then he crawled to his potty and Elina took off his diaper just in case he wants to go again... and he did. He did number 1 almost right away.

At the same day he learned to tell us he wanted to go potty, he did it three times!!.. it's awesome and I am so proud. This is the first time I feel he is acctually communicating what he wants and we understand what he means and he knows what he's "saying". To me this day is a milestone in Miltons development. He's a little "talking" person :)

Cafe Latte Dad

Today I went downtown to meet up with Milton's godfather. All three of us went to store after store trying to find something to buy. I bought a book of animals and scented oil. I know it doesn't sound very manly but it smells sooo good :) Milton fell a sleep while we walked around but I woke him up during our stop at a café. It was time for his snack and he'd been sleeping for over an hour.

Mom came and picked us up around 18:00 so that we could go back home together. When we came home we all ate. Milton tried some olives, went to the potty and got a hickup. He's had a long day and now I have to go and stir up some formula for nighty night time.

Growth Update

Yesterday we went to visit BVC for Milton's 1 year check up. At the one year check up they don't just look at the weight and such, they also give vaccination shots. Since Milton is part persian and comes in contact with people from Iran he also gets hepatitis B shots. This was his third vaccination shot and second hepatitis B shot. A possible side effect of the shots are feeling sick and getting a fever. Last time Milton had a slite fever but he was the same in temper and person. This time he got a fever again but he also got whiney and sick. He threw up and needed to be carried or laid down on mom, the whole time until bedtime. He kind of just hanged like a sack of potatoes when carried with his head down and with his eyes looking down. Today Milton still have a fever (38,1 degrees) but he is happy and active. He ate his breakfast by himself (with some pointers from us :) and crawling around on the floor. At this moment while I am writing Milton and mom are playing in his room. I can hear him talk and toys playing music and falling on the floor.

His measurements according to the normal medical curves of children has started to shift. This time Milton's weight has gone from one click above the standard to just above the standard line. His height has gone from the standard line to one click above the standard line. His head is still two clicks above the standard line, so there is no change there.

Conclusion: Milton is slowing down in weight gain and increasing in height. His head is still big :)

(Last Time/This Time)
Weight - 10345 grams / 10970 grams
Height - 74 cm / 77 cm
Head - 49,1 cm / 50,2 cm

Milton's 1st Birthday Party

The day after Milton's actual birthday we had a small family party for him. The theme for the party was "The Hulk". Milton likes to do The Hulk so it felt like a natural theme. Milton's closest family members, god parents and relatives came to celebrate him. We were a total of about 20 persons in our little flat of 76 kvm. We should have been about 30 persons but some cancelled. Maybe that was a good thing because it was a little bit crowded. Milton got a lot of presents. My guess would be about 50-50 toys and clothes. Milton also got his first horse.. a toy.. but I bet that in a few years there will be a live one around the corner. Luckily Milton's going to be a big brother soon because he's got so many toys now.

Milton also got his first taste of a birthday cake.. or any cake for that matter. Chocolate, sugar, marsipan, cream, banana.. what's not to like ? :)

After the party godfather and Jerry stayed to have some drinks and play "Guitarr Hero III". It looked like Milton will enjoy that game too in a year or so. Milton and the guitarr looked very natural together :)

I thank everybody that came to Milton's first birthday and for all the gifts he was given. Thank You! We all really appreciated it.

Milton's Little Hide Out

1 year old and finally we have fixed up Miltons room. It's been kind of ready for a long time but it's been sort of a holding room for all our stuff. Since we will a family party tomorrow and a new baby in about 3 months I took the time to clear the room for Milton. It only took 3 days :) Milton loves his mirrors. (By the way, the cord in the wall is just for internet broadband, nothing electrical :)

No more toys in the TV room.. :-D

First Time In Control

Of course I had to let Milton try and eat for himself on his big day. We have all the equipment and a small cute boy so why not. I won't lie. I did help him showing him the movement but then he just dug in. After a while he noticed how fun it is squisching the food with the hand so I had to help him again. All and all in the end Milton ate for the first time by himself on his first birthday.

Congratulations my love child.

Milton 1 Year

Milton's magic day. Today, one year ago, Milton was born. Lot's of Pain and Love was felt that day. The Perfect woman and the Love of my life, Elina, gave us a perfect baby on the 23rd of January 2008. She made us a family. Since that day I have been the luckiest man on earth, enjoying every morning looking a my family. Think that one year has past so fast.

Milton Hi-5:ing his birthday morning.

Milton's Laugh Fest

Mom went riding and we (grandma, Milton and I) tagged a long. While mom rode her horses we sat in the cafeteria. Milton was in a good mood especially when grandma started to joke around.

Milton On A Digital Floor

Today we went to a shopping mall to buy some things for Miltons birthday party this saturday. His real birthday is of course tomorrow but it's better to have the celebration on a weekend. During our little shopping adventure in the mall we stopped at a digital mat for kids. It had some games, short games, so that kids could jump, smash and chase stuff.. Maybe Milton can do that in 6 months or so. Today he just watched and crawled around.

Walk On By

December 14th, 2008.. Milton walked.. A little wobbly and not for long.. Now Milton's marching and marching, like you can see on this little movie. It was taken about a week ago. He's got a few cars to ride too. One even got a walker back piece but he still prefers his cart. He's up to about 10 steps without aid but I haven't edited that video yet since it's on my DV cam and not my cellphone. Mom said he walked all the way to the kitchen today but I missed it. If it's true he walked a lot longer than 10 steps. Milton's birthday is in 3 days, maybe he'll be ready to throw away his cart by then... ? .. No, I don't think so.. but in 1-2 weeks he probably will :)

Mr Poopyhead

Milton crossed the baby border today, doing his first business in a potty. He has started to say "tissa" which in grown up language is "kissa", translated that is "to pee". He doesn't know the difference between nr 1 and nr 2 but when he does one of them he says "tissa". Now we need to teach him to say it before he wants to go and not when he does it. We got lucky this time but we won't get lucky everytime.

Notice the weird happy dad in the picture :)

It took some effort... but he sure succeded

The result is filtered on request, but I really wanted his first on his blog. Like all his other first things. So here it is :)

Happy Birthday Chris & Anthon

A small family birthday party, at Miltons aunts place, for cousin Chris and Anthon. They are actually born on the same day.. I think it's really cool, that they are born on the same day. Chris turned 16 and Anthon 5. It was a short visit with grandmom and great grandmom. Think that Chris is almost done with elementry school... Time really does fly. I guess in a few blinks of my eyes Milton will start first grade :)

Milton & Mandel

It's been about 4-5 months since these small guys met last. Today Mandel and Milton met again. Mandel has turned 7 months and Milton is 1 year in about 2 weeks. Mandel did the commando crawl, drewling attack and coded baby talk while Milton just sat still looking on :) I got to say that Mandel looks a lot like his dad, Pelle... no offense mom :) I look forward watching these guys play in about 7-8 months. I am sure there will be a lot more interaction at that time.

Gift from the Godfather

A late christmas gift from Miltons Godfather has found it's way to Miltons playpen. It's a learn while play toy. Milton likes it a lot and from the looks of it, it seems he's trying to call Godfather to thank him.

Man In The Window

Milton has started to stand in bed looking out the bedroom window. He has also started to "eat" the little knob on the string that operates the window blinds. It looks funny... It looks like he´s going to pull out a tooth. I don't really know what he's looking at but he talks, points, laughs, jumps and hits the window with his palm. He seems to love doing it and who am I to stop him from having fun.

Paternity Day 2

Day 2 has come and gone. I've been at home being Miltons playmate for a few days now. Today (friday) is the third day and the end of the first week (not full week, but still). I feel a bit torn with this because I am not sure about what I can and cannot do. I play with Milton and am around him a lot but sometimes I let him play by himself and I do domestic stuff. I've taken down christmas ornaments, put up some frames on the wall, done paper work for my job and personal.. I mean, what is too much ? I almost feel like I am stealing time from my son when I do stuff like that. I this normal ? Does women feel the same when they are at home ?

Yesterday (day 2) we went to Milton's baba bozorg and mama bozorg (great grandparents) who live just a few hundred metres from us. Elina made dinner for them (I had to spice up the stew since it had meat in it) and we drank some tea and talked. I couldn't talk to them since they don't know Swedish or English, only Persian. But then again Milton can't talk to them either and he was all over their apartment :)

Miltons brother or sister gets more visible each and every day. Soon Milton will have a real playmate to play with

Full Time Dad

I can't believe it but time is really creeping up on me. It's 2009 and in a few hours it the 2nd of January. I work tomorrow (friday) and one day next week (monday) and then I am officially on my paternity leave... for 7 months! It feels so strange and so unreal. I've known this for a long time but it hasn't really hit me yet. It's kind of like when we expected Milton, we knew he was on the way but until he acctually came into the world it wasn't real.

What will I do now, during the days ? I've never been a full time dad (well, yes I have but not at home the whole time) so how will my days look like now ? I do look forward to the end of the 5th (my last day at work) and I am pretty sure I will dread the 29th of July. That is the day I start work again. A lot of things will happen during the first part of this year like the birth of Miltons sister/brother, summer vacation in Finland and news about our potential house in the country (will it land or crash ?). I guess I just have to take it one day at a time.

I took this picture on New Years Eve with my phone. This will be an everyday picture of me and my son for the next 7 months. I really can't wait :)

Happy New Year

Good bye 2008, Welcome 2009.. Ramin, AC, Lova, Wilda, Milton, Elina and I celebrated New Years Eve together. Grandmother and grandfather is in Finland and Miltons grandfather (on his dad's side) was on a plane on his way to Australia. Miltons aunt is studying in Australia for about 2 years. Mom had been cooking for hours and hours while dad cleaned and arranged the apartment. I loved the small New Years Celebration we had. Food, drinks, snacks and Wii topped off with champagne.

Milton experienced his first New Year and I hoped he liked it. He wasn't awake to see the fireworks and sleeping through the fireworks might have given him a dream of war... not knowing what that is I am kind of courious on how that dream would look. Well, except Wilda and Milton the rest of us watched the fireworks over Stockholms sky. I love to watch it and it will be something I will miss once we move out into the country... Hopefully this year.
